Foraged fibers
Among hand papermakers, there is growing interest in making not just the paper, but the pulp from which the paper is made, by harvesting and processing plant materials personally. This work creates great depth in the resulting paper, and adds layers of meaning to the process and work itself.
Because Whiteleaf Paper only makes paper with this extended method, it has been a natural fit to sponsor some paper exchanges that concentrate on and highlight this type of papermaking achievement. Thus was born Swatch Swaps that limit themselves to foraged paper. They are especially rare.
